86: Frank Ponissi - General Manager of Melbourne Storm
2020 was one of the strangest and toughest years of our lives. So to help give us some perspective and advice for the new year, we invited Frank Ponissi, the General Manager – Football at Melbourne Storm, to chat with us again.
Frank was at the club during the years when they were heavily punished for salary cap breaches - the heaviest fines given to any football club in Australia at the time.
They had to work through that tough period, with all the media and public scrutiny, and yet they were able to rebuild to become the benchmark team in the competition yet again.
In fact, they became even stronger. Frank shares some of the wisdom he gained through that experience.
The lessons he emphasises always revolve around the importance of high standards, accountability and plain old hard work.
“Hard work will always beat talent when talent doesn’t work hard"
