Let me ask you a question:  What is the #1 thing that holds people back in business?

The answer is fear.

Whether its fear of success, fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of being uncomfortable… the list goes on.

So, let me ask you another question: Were does fear show up for you?

Do you start projects full of hope, but cannot keep motivated and committed long enough to see it through to the finish line?

It's likely all due to some level of fear.

The first step to overcoming fear is to recognize it for what it most likely is:False Evidence Appearing Real.

Fear - False Evidence appearing real

Fear causes you to look backward rather than forward. It leads you to make poor decisions or take no action at all.

It can get in the way of taking a ‘first step’. It can distract you and sabotage your success.

Types of Fear

Let me describe the two most common types of fear we have as business owners: Fear of failure, and fear of success.

Fear of failure occurs especially when you are tackling something new. It is often hidden by an extreme perfectionism that paralyzes work and prevents progress.

To conquer it, you must understand that this fear is getting in the way of your learning process.

When you're trying something new, you have to gain experience, and that means you will fail at different times - and that's ok! Failure is a part of the process that should not stop you. Simply, you must analyse what went wrong and make it work.

Fear of success is just as common. It prevents you from catching the good opportunities. It makes you believe that you will not be able to cope with the challenges success will bring.

To conquer it, you must improve your self-esteem and the best way to do that is to act. Have a growth mindset and view everything as an opportunity.

If you don’t have a clear plan or confidence in where you are going, the thought of being successful can be quite daunting.

All of this fear leads to procrastination and reduced productivity in your Small Business.

FEAR has two meanings

Overcome your fear.

Don't wish things were easier, challenge yourself to rise to the challenge and be better.

The alternative is to be stuck where you are, accepting the status quo, frustrated that you're not achieving what you deserve.

That is unacceptable.

So, surround yourself with trusted mentors and like-minded people. Push through the mental barriers required to beat procrastination and get comfortable with being uncomfortable!

And recognise when fear has hold of you, and make sure you acknowledge it and overcome it.

Power to you!
