We've recently been exploring how to get more people to recommend your business to people they know.
The fact is, many businesses miss out on getting customers to recommend their business to friends, simply because their customers aren’t even aware that they're looking.
According to a study, 83% of satisfied customers are willing to recommend you, but only 29% will actually do so.
So today I'm going to offer some suggestions to make it easy for your customers to recommend you.
Whatever strategies you choose, the key is to keep your business at the top of your customers’ minds.
Send emails or text messages to satisfied customers
Remind your delighted customers to recommend you to their friends. Make it part of your standard process and automate it if possible.
Tag Friends On Social Media
Ask your followers to tag friends who might be interested in your business. Incentivise and offer rewards if appropriate.
Share case studies of your happy customers on social media
Make them look good! They will happily share your posts with their own networks, and be a strong advocate for your brand.
Link on your website
Make it easy for your customers to recommend you by placing a link at the top of your website that says: “Tell a Friend." That link will direct your customers to a landing page where they can quickly enter their info.
Run a Fun Competition or Prize Draw
Who doesn’t like taking part in a contest? Your customers get to enjoy some friendly competition, plus the chance to win a great prize. And when a contest ends up getting you lots more recommendations, you win as well.
Landing Pages and Simple Forms
Make the process simple! Remove as many roadblocks as possible. Consider creating a specific landing page with simple forms, or use chat bots on social media.
Offer incentives or rewards
Motivate your customers and social media followers to tell their friends about you. Reward people for taking action. Think about the action you want your clients to take, and reward that behaviour. Be creative!
Leave extra business cards with your customers and friends to pass along
Make everyone responsible to promote your recommendation program
Your entire business should be involved in your recommendation program. It’s not good enough to simply have a plan on paper, you must to put it into action.
Add links in your email signatures to “Tell a friend" or "Leave a review"
Prepare messages your clients can use
Reduce the effort needed for someone to tell their friends. Create message templates (for emails, social media posts, texts messages etc.) that your customers can send to their friends with minimal fuss.
This is just a short list of ideas to get you thinking. The point is, you need to actively focus on promoting your recommendation program. Get creative with how you remind and encourage your clients to take action, and make the process as simple as possible.
