How do you react to change? Be open to change with a result-focused mindset.

The culture of your organisation is the unspoken agreement that permeates everything you do. 

To build a top 1% business requires having an ethos of ‘I will do this, I can do this, I will follow through’.

Responding to change is a critical part of the culture and operations of the business. You, your team, and your business must be agile and flexible. Especially in our current climate.

But how do you achieve this?

Be open to change with a result-focused mindset.

That is key – it must always be about the results. You also need to be open for change. Our environment (especially right now) is always changing and if you can’t adapt with your environment then you won’t survive.

Would you continue to wear summer clothes on the coldest days of the year? No. You adapt and change with your environment, and your business MUST be the same. You must also know that your adaptations are driving results. You can’t just put strategies and processes in place if you don’t know if they work or not. 

Ensure you are continually reflecting 

Reflect on your plan and operations, and ensure your plan is using everybody’s strengths most effectively and productively. If things aren’t going to plan and you could be doing better, identify what changes need to be made.

A part of adapting to change is that things are NEW, therefore you need to be reflecting on how things are going.

You are in unchartered waters right now so looking back on the journey is KEY. Don’t continue on your journey without first reflecting on what you have learnt and what you need to remember going forward.

Consider how you can become more productive,

Rather than staying at the default position of simply we need more machines and more people, which is very expensive and not always the right solution.

How can you utilise the machines and people you already have to be more productive, more efficient and more effective? How can you squeeze the juice out of the lemon that you already have before you go and get a new lemon!

Ensure that everybody gets an opportunity to contribute to changes. 

When you do identify that changes need to be made in your operations and business, you need to work in collaboration to achieve your goals.

The more collaborative you are, the better decisions you can make about change and the more buy-in you will have from your team. You must have a common goal so that all resources collaborate to an extreme bias of exceptional delivery. You cannot achieve it all on your own, so make sure you give opportunity where you can and bring everyone in your team on the journey with you.

My final words to you are: congratulations!

You’ve made it this far through something business owners have never had to go through.

You’ve adapted, you’ve changed and you’ve worked extremely hard. So, remember to celebrate that! It’s not over yet, but if you can make it this far, you can make it to the end.

Just keep working every day like it’s day one and continue to celebrate your wins, you deserve to.
